Harrison, Jodi
Principal

Dear Stanley Mosk Community,

It is with great pride that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Stanley Mosk Elementary School. I look forward to fostering relationships with you all so we can work together to provide a world-class educational experience for each child.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty-three years. During this time I have been extremely fortunate to serve students, teachers and the community in a variety of positions including teacher, coach, coordinator, reading expert and most recently assistant principal.  I am passionate about every child reading and it is my goal to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that meets the unique needs of all students.

Stanley Mosk has incredible programs in place that nurture our students to be well rounded, contributing citizens prepared for the 21st century.  We received a five-year LEGO Education Model School – Center of Influence Grant that supports our initiative to provide our students with an integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. The grant will provide hands-on learning opportunities while also incorporating the T (Technology) in STEAM.

This year, our K-2 students will participate in choral singing and dance. We have an orchestra program for students in grades 3-5.  Third grade students will participate in the Art Pals Program, while the 4th and 5th grade students will participate in Best Foot Forward, the ballroom dance program.

We are looking forward to another exciting year in our grades 3-5 robotics program. We partner with CSUN, JPL and other STEAM schools to provide opportunities for our students to showcase their robotic skills and other STEAM-based learnings in our yearly event, “Rally in the Valley – Robotics Challenge and STEAM Expo” in May.

We have added supports in place to ensure that all of our students can access the standards to be strong readers and writers. Our committed staff participates in professional development opportunities through multiple grants, symposiums, and workshops to continually enhance their teaching skills and knowledge.

I truly believe that parent involvement is the key to success for our students and I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities throughout the school year for parent participation. I am so excited to meet and develop relationships with all the Mosk families and staff.  My door is always open. Please stop by to introduce yourself to me.  I am committed to ensuring that 2016-2017 will be an incredible year for all of our students!

Fondly,

Jodi Harrison
