SUMMER CLIMB READING CHALLENGE

Dear Parents and Students,

Did you know that students often lose TWO MONTHS of learning over the summer? Prevent this by taking advantage of the many learning resources available to you. Visit your public library and take advantage of the websites below. Also take advantage of RAZ-Kids. In case you forgot how to log-in, attached is username and password information. If you don’t have a computer or iPad, you can load the app for free onto your phone.

As you know, all students take an end-of- year reading assessment to end the 2017-2018 school year. Any student who shows growth in reading as measured by the beginning of year assessment in 2018-2019 school year, will receive an extended recess and will be entered in a raffle to select a book from the Scholastic book orders. Make this happen by making sure to read any chance you get this summer. Reading practice creates super readers!!!

We teachers look forward to hearing your super kids read to us in the upcoming school year and celebrating their efforts to grow.

Gratefully,

Mrs. Harrison, Stanley Mosk Teachers, and Staff

T.E.C.H. App Resolution Survey

LAUSD Board Vice President Nick Melvoin, working with the LAUSD Information Technology Division and in partnership with Board President Monica Garcia and Board Member Dr. Richard Vladovic, is leading the effort for the development of a smartphone app to transform District communications with students’ families. The Transforming Engagement via Community Hubs (TECH) app resolution is an effort to modernize District communication and improve how schools and the District engage with parents and families.

Your participation in this survey is critical in helping the District determine what information the app will provide to users and most importantly, capturing the needs of parents and families. The survey should take roughly 15 minutes or less to complete.
